Nocturne - for flute, clarinet, violin, viola, cello, and piano (2015)

Nocturne was composed in 2015 and marks the final piece I wrote during my year in Hamburg, Germany—a period in which I immersed myself in the city’s unique culture and unforgettable atmosphere. I regard this composition as a personal souvenir, capturing the vivid details of my life there, especially the nights when moonlight bathed the city in its mesmerizing glow.

As I completed the piece, memories of countless evenings in Hamburg resurfaced: the moon casting its luminous light along the paths I walked, small animals darting through the shadows like flickering points of brightness—quiet, delicate, and ephemeral.

The work received its first performance by the remarkable Chamber Orchestra Klangforum Wien in Shanghai, China, later that same year.
